Stranger Than Fiction Friday: Modest Mouse & Big Boi
Apr, 29 2011
This week, through a series of Tweets, rapper Big Boi, has teamed up with Modest Mouse to work on the indie act’s next album. He also revealed that Chris Carmouche, who worked on Speakerboxxx/The Love Below, is involved in the sessions.
“Been camped out in the Lab with Modest Mouse all week, workin on the new mouse LP, coolest cats ever. Long Live The Funk,” tweeted half of Outkast. Now “funk” and “Modest Mouse” are not words I would ever put in the same sentence, so I am all the more excited to hear the resulting recording.
Though this certainly is not the first hip-hop/rock crossover – remember Aerosmith and Run DMC’s “Walk This Way” and Linkin Park and Jay-Z teamed up for the EP, Collision Course – it promises to be as intriguing.
Big Boi also revealed that he and the other half of Outkast, Andre 3000, have begun work on a new album. The release will be their first since 2006’s Idlewild.
There is no further information about Modest Mouse’s album, but you know we’ll keep you posted!
