Bleak and beautiful...In typical Morrissey fashion, his off-key wails burst from the heart in a lament about a deformed young woman, and in reality a reflection of his own hopeful self-hate (and, I suspect, our own).Brilliantly moving, one can feel the anguish and despair evoked in lines such as "...Jesus made me so Jesus save me from pity, sympathy and people discussing me..."Recommended to all those who have ever felt like "a hostage to kindness."Way to go, Steven!
Good song, but not enough to the pointThe November Spawned A Monster Single has a good hookline in the beginning, but the rest of the tune is just not enough to the point or recognizable. It should have been sharper, more simple. The Girl Least Likely To is a great song; it would have served as the better single and is underrated as a mere B side. This may ultimately be Morrissey's greatest weakness: his solo tunes aren't simply as straight, simple and pleasing as the Smiths songs.
