Mott The Hoople

Jan, 20 2009

All the not-young-anymore dudes from Mott The Hoople are reforming for two shows in London, 69-year old former lead singer Ian Hunter has announced. On the 2nd and 3rd of October, the Hammersmith Appollo will play host to the original Mott lineup, on the 40th anniversary of their formation. Mott The Hoople were famously on the verge of giving up after their fourth album had failed to find an audience, when a fan by the name of David Bowie offered to write them a song. They turned down his first suggestion - "Suffragete City" - but did record his second, "All The Young Dudes," which became a glam rock anthem and sealed their fame. "Why are we doing it?" Hunter said. "I can't speak for the others, but I'm doing it just to see what it's like." Tickets go on sale this Thursday.
