Unknown MottEven most Mott the Hoople afficianados haven't heard this one. The high point is Sweet Angeline, which was a concert regular that Mott played for many years. A snarky, cynical rocker that has Ian Hunter comparing his girlfriend's mouth to a snake. Not sure that I get it, but it works. The lead song - Death May Be Your Santa Claus - gets kudos for the title alone. The rest of the songs are just so-so. All in all, not Mott's strongest work, but you can see glimpses of the genius that Ian Hunter would show on later work like All the Young Dudes.
