Born Talib Johnson, Musiq Soulchild is a Billboard Award-winning neo-soul singer and songwriter from Philadelphia, who is best known for his smooth blending of soul music with R&B rhythms and vocal stylings.

He is also known for his e.e. cummings-like disregard of punctuation and capitalisation and complete disdain for spelling, most notable in his album titles, Aijuswanaseing, Juslisen, and his 2007 release Luvanmusiq. In 2001, he shortened his name to just Musiq, stating that he was not yet accomplished enough to merit the title of 'music's soulchild'. However, with the release of "B.U.D.D.Y" in 2007, he clearly thought he had improved sufficiently to take his old name back.
