Overview Edit

Harmony Corruption is the third album by Napalm Death. It was released in 1990 on Earache Records. The style of the album was more death metal than grindcore, featuring extremely heavy riffs and deep low vocals. The tracks from the Mentally Murdered EP are included at the end of early editions of the CD, though versions now in print feature only the standard eleven tracks. It is the first Napalm Death album to feature Mark "Barney" Greenway as the vocalist, and the last with Mick Harris on drums.

Richard Johnson, a member of Agoraphobic Nosebleed, says that the wide distribution of Harmony Corruption ensured that it had a greater impact on the American grindcore scene than earlier Napalm Death efforts.

John Tardy, vocalist of Obituary, and Glen Benton, vocalist of Deicide, provide backing vocals on the track "Unfit Earth" in the later sections.

Their first UK chart entry, this album peaked at number 67.

Limited vinyl pressing included the bonus LP with live set recorded at I.C.A.

5 stars Deserves a place beside your Reign in Blood CD
This is the most intense slab of metal to hit the streets since Slayer's "Reign in Blood". A mandatory for any metal fan. If this is the only album you buy this decade, you won't be sorry! This is the only album I know of that can go from killer groove to sonic meltdown and back before the listener can reattach the missing limbs due to uncontrolable moshing frenzy! A must for anybody into thrash/death/black/power/etc. metal. I totally recommend this for all.

3 stars Don't skip this!
Consider this album a must have for any type of "metal" fan. Harmony Corruption is one of the first death/grind albums I ever heard, and after all these years I still enjoy listening to it. This isn't some blood and guts/kill your mom music. The lyrics are intelligent and the music backing it is surprisingly well done. This band normally has an extremely chaotic sound, but this album shows that they know how to put together an actual tune.
