RIP Nate Dogg: Regulating All Doggs In Heaven
Mar, 16 2011
News came late on Tuesday night that Long Beach, CA rapper Nate Dogg had passed away. Though the cause of death was not immediately released, Nate had suffered two major strokes in recent years.
Nate Dogg rose to fame in the early 90’s with friends Snoop Dogg and Warren G. His hit “Regulate” with Warren G, is perhaps for what he is known best. Because, really, who doesn’t love a solid Michael McDonald sample? Check out the video here.
Artists from the hip-hop community continue to express their sorrow. Snoop Dogg tweeted “We lost a true legend n hip hop n rnb. One of my best friends n a brother to me since 1986 when I was a sophomore at poly high where we met.” And recent collaborator, Eminem said, "Nate's voice in music will never be replaced. He helped create the blueprint for West Coast hip-hop, and I was one of the lucky people who had the privilege to work with him and the honor to have him as a friend.”

Things aren't going well for Nate Dogg at the moment. It's five years since his last album, and while guest spots on hits by 50 Cent, Warren G and Eminem have helped to fill the void, his health took a turn for the worse last December when he suffered a stroke, partially paralzying the left side of his body. Nate, real name Nathaniel Hale, was arrested in June after allegedly threatening to kill his ex-girlfriend while following her in a car in Los Angeles. Now comes news that he has suffered a second stroke and is in a serious but stable condition in hospital. According to reports, he is using an assisted-breathing tube and is being monitored while under sedation. Next Wednesday he is due in court to face felony charges relating to the June incident, but for now Nate and those close to him have more important things to think about.
