Interesting album to say the least; for the eclectic music loverAs my review title says, this album is "interesting" to say the least. I'm not sure I could even write an in-depth review here, because Nicole's style is so unique. Promising talent, but bad production and sound recordingNicole Atkins has a good, unique singing voice. She also shows talent and promise as a songwriter. Overall, this is an interesting album. However, the production and sound engineering on this recording are awful. The overdubbed strings (or synth-strings -- it's impossible to tell) on several tracks drown out the band. And when you can hear them above the vocals and muddy string arrangements, the rest of the band doesn't add much. The sound level is uneven from track to track and the mix is just …
