Opeth

Recent news that members of Swedish progressive metal band, Opeth had been involved in a tour bus accident were exacerbated by further revelations that the incident was intentional. In updates to his MySpace page, front man Mikael Åkerfeldt reports that “driver of the other car (who made the U-turn) that our bus crashed into, sadly passed away from his injuries. On top of that it seems as if it was a deliberate death-stunt from his side as the police had found a suicide-letter in the car-wreck.” In a later update he praised the swift actions of the tourbus driver “I think he saved lives by going straight on. If the bus would have fallen on its side, who knows what might have happened?” In spite of this frightening turn of events that band are continuing with their final few appearances as part of the first European Progressive Nation tour alongside Dream Theater, Bigelf and Unexpect. As Åkerfeldt says “I have a feeling we might even enjoy playing slightly more than before this all happened. As they say, you don't know what you've got until it's gone.”
