Stankonia is the fourth studio album by American hip hop duo OutKast, released October 31, 2000 on La Face Records. The album debuted at number 2 on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart, selling over 530,000 copies the first week. Stankonia received general acclaim from most music critics, based on an aggregate score of 95/100 from Metacritic. It received rave reviews from publications such as USA Today and the Los Angeles Times. It was also voted as the best album of the year in The Village Voice Pazz & Jop critics' poll. In 2003, the album was ranked number 359 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time.

5 stars A Hip-Hop Masterpiece, plain and simple.
While most of the hip-hop coming out nowadays is filled with the same commercialized BS, Outkast continues to step their level up to new heights. Stankonia is a masterpiece, as was Aquemini, as was ATLiens, and as was their debut Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik. Not since A Tribe Called Quest came into the game have we seen a group drop more than 2 straight classics...Tribe managed 3 straight, but Outkast has just completed their fourth.

Hip-hop and rap not being my cup of tea, I nevertheless dare say that "Stankonia" is an immensely creative, pulsating work of art. Annoying interludes and some missteps ("Snappin' and Trappin'") aside, "Stankonia" summarises OutKast's attitude and stands out among the Dre/Big Boi's finest offerings yet.
