Owl City is the creation of Adam Young, whose musical career initially found momentum as a result of his exposure on MySpace. By 2007 he had released his first EP, Of June swiftly followed by 2008’s Maybe I’m Dreaming.
Shrugging off frequent comparisons to The Postal Service, Young’s early efforts came to fruition when his next release Ocean Eyes debuted at No.27 on the Billboard charts. The first single release from the album, Fireflies – which features the backup vocals of frequent Owl City collaborator, Relient K’s Matt Thiessen -- topped the charts on both sides of the Atlantic.
In anticipation of Young’s forthcoming fame, British media corporation the BBC, named Owl City as one of the 15 Sounds of 2010.
