Biography

Edit

Panic! At The Disco was the first band to sign to Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz’ new label, Decaydance, and they did so on the basis of on-line demos alone.

Their debut album A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out was released in 2005 and went platinum, charting in the US and UK charts in spite of an extremely savage critical reception, and continuing arguments about their emo genre tag.

In 2008 they announced they were dropping the exclamation mark from their name only to re-instate in 2009 after the departure of Ryan and Jon.

Panic! At the Disco

Jul, 15 2009

There are changes afoot in the Panic! at the Disco camp. Only last week the band split in half, with Ryan Ross and Jon Walker both walking out, hinting at creative differences. This left the remains of the band in a bit of a dilemma, as Ross was the main songwriter and responsible for much of the hugely successful platinum-selling debut A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out. Undeterred, and with work on a third album already underway - including a song co-written by blink-182’s Mark Hoppus -- remaining members Brendan Urie and Spencer Smith elected to continue with the Panic! brand. In the interests of proving their commitment, the remaining Panic! boys have released a short snippet of a new song, “Oh Glory,” on the band website, in a post which intriguingly reverts to the old exclamation mark version of the band name. Though there has been no news about replacement band members, the hunt is on so that the band can be ready to join a newly reunited blink-182 during their hotly anticipated reunion tour.
