Paramore Parting Ways
Dec, 26 2010
This week the alt-rock world was surprised by an announcement that the Farros brothers – Josh and Zac - were leaving Paramore, a band they founded in 2004 as teenagers.
The Tennessee band is fresh off a world tour in support of their 2009 album, Brand New Eyes; their third and most successful release.
The original break-up announcement came on Saturday in a statement the band, and seemed amicable enough. "We want Josh and Zac to do something that makes them happy and if that isn't here with us, then we support them finding happiness elsewhere,” it read in part.
Yet from further blog posts from the brothers, it’s becoming clearer that charismatic lead singer, Hayley Williams,’ estrangement with the rest of the band began months after she joined. He says the band began to resemble a “manufactured product” soon thereafter.
A list of grievances against Williams by the Farroses includes her secretly signing to Atlantic records as a “formulated” solo act, a move that is undisputed, and that her parents and her manager were controlling and manipulative. They cite personal, musical, romantic and religious differences between themselves and Williams.
The three remaining members of the band plan to carry using the Paramore name and plans to conduct a South American tour in 2011 are reportedly still in the works.
