Biography

Edit

Great grand-daughter of Conrad Hilton, the founder of the luxury hotel chain of the same name, Paris Hilton has gained worldwide notoriety in recent years as an 'it' girl, celebrity and model. She has also made appearances in several films and the TV series The Simple Life, and now owns a record label called Heiress Records. She is the only 'artist' signed to Heiress.

Paris Hilton released her debut album Paris in 2006. Collaborating with a team of top pop songwriters and producers, it achieved huge commercial success, but was mostly panned by the press. The first single ("Stars Are Blind") went Top Ten in 14 countries, and the third single ("Nothing In This World") reached similar sales in 10 countries. The album has sold over 2,500,000 copies worldwide.

In late 2006, the British artist Banksy and producer Danger Mouse secretly replaced 500 copies of Paris in British music stores with their own version - featuring a doctored photo of Hilton topless with a dog's head, and a 40-minute satirical track on the CD.

Paris Hilton says she is in the process of recording her new album.

Trivia

Edit
  • In May 2007, Paris Hilton was sentenced to 45 days in prison due to driving convictions. However, just two days after she started her jail-term, she was released again thanks to an unspecified "medical condition". It didn't wash with one judge though; he re-jailed her the next morning. In total she served 22 days before being released for good behaviour.
