Paul Brandon Gilbert (born November 6, 1966 in Illinois, USA) is an American musician. He is well known for his guitar work with Racer X and Mr. Big, as well as many solo albums. He also joined Joe Satriani and John Petrucci on the 2007 G3 tour.
He has been voted number 4 on a list in GuitarOne magazine of the "Top 10 Greatest Guitar Shredders of All Time" as well as a spot in Guitar World's 50 Fastest Guitarists of All Time list.Paul's talents do go beyond just that of a shredder.Paul is well versed in Jazz and blues and can play emotionally.Paul also has a great sense of humor in his playing, something that is missing in many of his contemporaries.As an instructor Paul also shines with his command of theory as well as his practical use of economy of motion, which can be seen in the way he positions his left hand as well as his picking hand.
