Overview Edit

"Last Kiss" is a song that originally appeared on Pearl Jam's 1998 Fanclub Single. The song was found by lead singer Eddie Vedder on a used record at the Fremont Antique Mall in Seattle's Fremont neighborhood.

"Last Kiss" was recorded by the band for a pittance - a couple thousand dollars, claimed bassist Jeff Ament - but was such a hit that it was picked up by radio stations and put into heavy rotation.

By popular demand Last Kiss was released to the public as a single on June 8, 1999, with all of the proceeds going to the aid of refugees of the Kosovo War.

The cover would end up reaching number two on the Billboard Hot 100. This remains the band's highest position on the Billboard Hot 100. It peaked at number four on the Top 40 Mainstream. The song peaked at number five on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Tracks chart and number two on the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart. This single has been certified gold by the RIAA.

For those who don't know, Pearl Jam did not write this song. "Last Kiss" is a 1966 song, and it rocks. I think everyone loves this song, i know i do. I, personally, like Pearl Jam's version than the original, but it's the same song which is so beautiful it almost makes me cry. Whether you like Pearl Jam's or the original, it doesn't matter. "Last Kiss" is a great song, and it should be in your CD collection!
