RIP Phoebe Snow

Apr, 26 2011

News came early on Tuesday that bluesy songstress Phoebe Snow passed away from complications following a 2010 brain hemorrhage. Snow was made famous for her 70’s top 5 hit “Poetry Man," which earned her a Best New Artist Grammy nomination in 1975. She went on to tour with the likes of Paul Simon and Jackson Browne, and even collaborated with Simon on his “Gone at Last." Younger listeners may also recognize her voice from her later work singing jingles. She was the voice behind General Foods and International Coffees’ “Celebrate the moments of your life” slogan, as well as the singer for one of the versions of the 80’s sitcom, A Different World theme song. -Erin O.
