Overview Edit

I'm Not Dead is the fourth album by pop singer Pink, released in North America on April 4, 2006 (see 2006 in music); it was released a day earlier in most other territories. Pink worked with producers and songwriters Billy Mann, Josh Abraham, Max Martin, Luke Gottwald, Butch Walker and Mike Elizondo. The tracks range from the intrinsically personal to political. The album was originally titled Long Way to Happy, after the song of the same name, but Pink changed her mind because she thought I'm Not Dead made a stronger statement that this was a comeback album. In July 2005, clips of "'Cuz I Can", "U + Ur Hand" (then titled You and Your Hand), "Long Way to Happy", "Who Knew", and "Nobody Knows" were leaked to the internet.. The album (still planned to be titled "Long Way To Happy") was originally slated for a release date of September 20, 2005.

The album has sold over 5 million copies.

The album yielded seven singles including the lead single "Stupid Girls" which became a top five single in the UK and Australia and a top 20 single in the United States. The album's second single, "Who Knew", became a top 10 single in the United States peaking at nine and the album's third single "U + Ur Hand" are credited for re-energizing the sales of the I'm Not Dead in the United States. Songs like "Nobody Knows", "Leave Me Alone (I'm Lonely)", "Dear Mr. President" and "'Cuz I Can" followed the success of the first three singles.

5 stars A Great Album That I Wasn't Expecting
As something of an old rock and roll guy, I was all set to hate this album when I unwrapped the gift wrap it came to me in. I don't recall why, but I had had a misguided belief that Pink was yet another whining 20-something with more attitude and angst than actual talent. But I'm happy to admit that I was SO incredibly wrong -- this is a great album.

Why?

1. It's funny. Songs like "Stupid Girls" and "U + UR Hand" are hilariously on-target at skewering certain audiences, and they provide a nice…

3 stars Downhill but still good
Generally, I prefer rock music, but Pink is still one of my favorite singers. This album is very different from Misundaztood, which I also like a lot. She had a lot more to say in Misundaztood, whereas some of her new songs are sort of unoriginal. While she doesn't have the greatest voice of all time, she's still good, and all in all I thought her CD (especially the song "Cuz I Can") very much worth listening to.
