Overview Edit

Amnesiac is the fifth studio album by the English alternative rock band Radiohead. It was released on 4 June 2001 in the United Kingdom, debuting at #1 on the UK charts and #2 on the Billboard Top 200. Amnesiac featured more audible guitar than its direct predecessor Kid A, and unlike that album, it spun off several singles. Like Kid A, it synthesised influences of electronic music, ambient music, classical music, and jazz.

5 stars info about the new Radiohead album
I'll do a few things in this review. I'll give some facts about the album, go over the songs, and comment on the packaging (which is important on Radiohead albums and very important when it comes to the limited edition of this one).

The historical background: When they released Kid A in Oct 2000, Radiohead said they had recorded more than 20 songs and they weren't kidding. It is very tempting to consider these 2 different albums and critics have already labelled Amnesiac as a sort of reaction to…

3 stars Too much hit-and-miss
It seems that most reviews about Radiohead are written either by individuals who feel it their personal duty to either demolish the Radiohead "myth" or defend it with blind ferocity from such attacks. In a sense this itself proves their greatness, simply by their innate ability to provoke such strong emotion. So let me say right off that I am a HUGE Radiohead fan, and this CD, flawed though it may be, is still better than most stuff out there. However, it sounds too much like leftovers (which it…

Trivia Edit

  • Recorded in January 1999 – late 2000
  • Early French promotional copies included a bonus track titled "Like Spinning Plates (Reversed)" which is just as the title suggests. It is unknown if the band approved this as no other release contains this track in that form.
