Rich Boy is the US-born rapper who hit the Top 10 with this debut single “Throw Some D’s”.
Maurice Richards (aka Rich Boy) opted for rhymes rather than wrenches when he dropped out of engineering class at college to pursue his music career. Demo tapes brought him to the attention of Ludacris’ manger Polow da Don, and Rich Boy won a contract for his debut album. While he worked on material for his debut, he began to build his profile with appearances on Ludacris’ Disturbing tha Peace compilations.
When he was ready to go, he didn't take long to earn national popularity. His debut single, "Throw Some D's", reached No.6 on the Hot 100 at the end of 2006. In March 2007 he released his self-titled debut album which sold over 100,000 copies in its first week, reaching No.3 in the album charts. Despite receiving mixed reviews it has since been certified as a gold-seller. A second album, Tears of Joy, is expected in 2008.
