As is proudly proclaimed on his website, all you have to do to 'get' Richard Cheese is to "imagine Sinatra singing Weezer."
Richard Cheese is the pseudonym of Los Angeles-based comedian Mark Jonathan Davis and is a slang reference to smegma, making his name "dick cheese".
Richard Cheese first appeared on the music scene in 2000 with his first CD named after his band Lounge Against The Machine. This CD 'swankified', amongst others, Radiohead's "Creep" and Limp Bizkit's "Nookie", in swinging, martini swigging style.
Soon, Dick was in demand, landing interviews, television appearances and party entertainment slots at private events of the rich and famous. By 2002, he had released Tuxicity and 2004's I'd Like A Virgin was notable for its cover of Michael Jackson's "Beat it". During this year his cover of Disturbed's "Down With The Sickness" featured on the spoof horror flick Dawn Of The Dead, expletives wonderfully intact.
The releases continued, Aperitif For Destruction in 2005 and a best of in 2006, The Sunny Side Of The Moon swiftly followed at the end of that year with a Christmas angled release Silent Nightclub.
Richard Cheese - if you ever wanted proof that everybody needs a little Dick in their life.
