Biography

Edit

Australian born Rick Springfield (Richard Lewis Springthorpe) was one of the most successful solo acts of the early 80s with hits like "Jesse's Girl" (81) and "Don't Talk To Stranger's". Selling millions of albums Springfield won the Gammy for Best Male Rock Vocal Performance in 1982 and in 1983 he won an American Music Award for Favorite Pop/Rock Male Artist, which he shared with John Mellencamp nee' Cougar. Springfield also played Dr. Noah Drake on the daytime soap-opera General Hospital from 1981 - 1983, the same time that his massive hit album Working Class Dog (1981) and its follow-up Success Hasn't Spoiled Me Yet (1982) were making him a household name. His career began to wane in the late 80s but not before he released one more platinum selling album in 1983, Living in Oz. Springfield revived his career when he revived his character, Dr. Drake, on General Hospital in 2005.
