Overview Edit

Siren Song of the Counter Culture is the third album by American punk rock band Rise Against, released on August 10, 2004. It is the band's first release on a major label.

The album sold very well, mainly due to the success of its single, "Swing Life Away", which reached #12 on the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks, making it the band's highest-charting single of the band at the time. Also faring well were the album's other three singles, "Give It All" (#37) and "Life Less Frightening" (#33) and "Paper Wings". While the album was commercially successful, Siren Song of the Counter Culture is not Rise Against's highest charting album on the Billboard 200, peaking only at #136; subsequent albums The Sufferer & The Witness and Appeal to Reason both charted higher, peaking at #10 and #3 respectively. The album has been ceritified gold by the RIAA and platinum by the CRIA.

5 stars Relief in the form of an album
I thank Rise Against. If it wasn't for this band, I would have turned my back on punk rock utterly and totally. I was desperate, I was anxious, and I was alone. Bad Religion had just released their latest album, along with Social D and Pennywise. I had bought them and listened to them until I was sick of them. I had no where else to turn. I bought a couple nu-metal albums, a couple rap albums, and even a couple compilations. I was disappointed in punk rock. All of these new punk bands were pissi…

3 stars Not as good...
This cd isn't bad but in no way compares to The Unraveling, the bands' first record. Theres a few good songs, like paper wings, blood to bleed, to them these streets belong, and give it all. It's good enough to buy.
