Overview Edit

The Unraveling is the debut album by American punk rock band Rise Against. Released on April 24, 2001 and produced by punk producer Mass Giorgini. Fat Wreck Chords reissued The Unraveling in 2005, and it was remixed and remastered by Bill Stevenson and Jason Livermore, with two bonus songs. It is also the only Rise Against studio album where frontman Tim McIlrath does only lead vocals and doesn't play guitar. Two songs, "The Art of Losing" and "My Life Inside Your Heart" were used for the unreleased Dreamcast game Propeller Arena.

5 stars Rise Against at it's Best
I just recently bought the new remastered of the unravelling, and wow this album just blew me away, all songs have a different of intensity, some songs are quite fast and others are on a more slower paced side. This band shows that punk/hardcore is still alive, cause Rise Against puts together a fast-paced hardcore feel to their music. Unbelievable this album is, also check out Revolutions Per Minute and Siren S…

3 stars Weak relative to their other albums
This is Rise Against's first album and to be honest, it shows. In general the music here is unrefined relative to their other albums. The writing and the melodies are weak while the addictive hooks found in their later music haven't showed up yet here. There are a couple songs on the CD I like, but mainly I find myself fast forwarding through most of it. And this is coming from a hardcore Rise Against fan.

If you find yourself in love with this album, you might not like their later stuff as muc…
