Biography

Edit

Singer-songwriter Roberto Carlos was born in Brazil in 1941. Also known as O Rei (The King), he is amongst the most successful Latin American artists. Carlos' singing career began in Brazil in the fifties, but it was his 1966 No.1 track "Quero que Vá Tudo pro Inferno", that signalled the start of the big time for Carlos, and eventually his fame spread throughout the Spanish/Latin speaking world. His 1988 Roberto Carlosalbum won the Grammy for Best Latin American Pop Performance.

In the mid 90s a new generation of performers re-introduced Brazil to Carlos' earlier works, and his popularity has spanned the generations again. His record sales now exceed 100,000,000 copies.
