The Devil Has Left The Building

May, 17 2010

Ronnie James Dio -- the little man with the huge voice -- has died aged 67 following a battle with stomach cancer. His contribution to the world of heavy metal is significant; he lent his powerful vocals to Black Sabbath, Rainbow and to his own band, Dio. Most recently he had reunited with his former Sabbath bandmates to create Heaven and Hell, thus re-creating the well-loved Dio-era of the band. For many, the release of their debut album, The Devil You Know was a welcome return to form, and a forthcoming tour was much anticipated. A short statement from his wife Wendy states, “Please know he loved you all and his music will live on forever” and for many, Dio’s music does play an important part in the soundtrack of their lives. So it is, with devil horns aloft – the sign of rock which he made so popular – the metal world bids farewell to RJD.
