Wu-Tang Clan's producing genius RZA was born Robert Diggs. He formed the Clan in 1993 with his cousins GZA/Genius (Gary Grice) and Ol' Dirty Bastard (Russell Jones), and was the central creative force behind landmark album Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers). After the unprecedented success of that album, each member of the Clan spun-off into their own solo careers, and RZA was always at the mixing desk: he produced Method Man's Tical, Ol' Dirty Bastard's Return To The 36 Chambers, Ghostface Killah's Ironman, GZA/Genius' Liquid Swords and Raekwon's Only Built 4 Cuban Linx.... Meanwhile, RZA was also involved in Prince Paul's Gravediggaz project, a group that pioneered the 'horrorcore' style of hip-hop.
RZA has continued to produce Wu-Tang albums and solo albums by members of the Wu-Tang Clan ever since, although with less success than before. RZA has also released his own solo albums, though mostly to mixed reviews: Digital Bullet, released under the pseudonym Bobby Digital, is usually considered his best solo effort.
As well as producing the new Wu-Tang album, RZA is now pursuing an acting career. After turning down a part in Martin Scorsese's Oscar-winning The Departed, his next big role is in the upcoming Ridley Scott film American Gangster.
