Sandi Thom (born Alexandria Thom), from Macduff in Aberdeen, Scotland, is best known for her smash hit single "I Wish I Was a Punk Rocker" which achieved No.1 in countries around the world. Thom got her break by broadcasting online a "world tour" from her basement in Tooting, South London, called 21 Nights from Tooting. This "world tour" was 21 performances recorded in Thom's basement flat and webcast by professional webcasting company Streaming Tank. Virtual tickets were sold but stated that the venue had the capacity for "six people, (10 including the band)". These "gigs" were webcast from February 24 thru March 16 2006, and thanks to a story in the British newspaper The Sunday Times, by the final "gig" more than 70,000 people were watching.
From this success she accepted a record deal with RCA/Sony and released "I Wish I Was a Punk Rocker" the first single off her debut album Smile... It Confuses People which would produce two further singles "Lonely Girl" and "What if I'm Right", and achieve platinum status in the UK. Thom's second album Pink and The Lily is due out sometime in 2008.
