Overview Edit

Little Voice is the debut major-label album by singer-songwriter Sara Bareilles, which was released on July 17, 2007. Six of the tracks are re-recorded studio versions of songs from her previous album, Careful Confessions. A two-disc special edition of Little Voice with live acoustic tracks was released on March 18, 2008. The bonus disc also includes an interview with Bareilles and accompanying videos of the performances.

The album debuted on the US Billboard 200 at number 45, selling about 16,000 copies in its first week. As of February 27, 2008, the album has been certified gold by the RIAA and has peaked at number seven on the Billboard 200 selling 944,000

copies. The album debuted at number 26 in New Zealand, helped by "Love Song" reaching number one on the radio airplay charts.

In the UK, the album debuted at #9 with sales of 14,484.

"Love Song" was selected as the first single. It was featured as the iTunes Single of the Week from June 19 to 26. In 2008, "Bottle It Up" was released as the second single. The video was directed by Marcos Siega.

The third single in the U.S. was supposed to be "Gravity" with the video released on February 3, 2009, but no further information was revealed to the date of the single release.

"Love Song" was nominated for Song of the Year and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance at the 51st Grammy Awards.

This album does not bear the "Parental Advisory" sticker in spite of the expletive language used in a couple of songs, including "Bottle It Up".

When asked in an interview by UK newspaper The Daily Mirror about how she would describe her music, Bareilles said "I guess I would say its piano-based Pop/Soul" and said she listened to a lot of early soul and jazz when making the album.

5 stars The future of piano rock
I first heard Sara Bareilles in a free song of the week on I-Tunes, the song was "Love Song". Well, it blew me away. It was instantly one of the best songs I heard this year and I was impatient for the rest of the album to come out. Well, I was well pleased to hear the rest of this album. She has a great talent, the songs fit together well and her voice is incredible. She is reminiscent of Fiona Apple in her voice style but builds on that with the instrumental accompaniment to the songs, which c…

3 stars Not bad!
The first time I heard Love Song on Sirius I thought Eh. Not bad. As it got more play it grew on me, so I decided to take a chance on buying the album.

Her voice does have moments when it sounds like Fiona Apple, but I think her music lacks depth. She has a few songs that I enjoyed but I found myself getting impatient for the end of the song and hoping the next would keep my interest. I think she sounds a little bit generic, and after many plays I still find myself gravitating to two or three s…
