The Scissor Sisters is an American pop band formed, in 2000, whose European success currently eclipses that in their native country. The current line-up is Jake Shears (vocals), Babydaddy (bass/keyboards/guitars), Ana Matronic (vocals), Del Marquis (guitar/bass) and Paddy Boom (drums).
Shortly after the majority of the band got together (Boom didn't join until most of the first album was recorded), they signed to the independent A Touch of Class label and recorded the single "Electrobix" with its B-side, a cover of Pink Floyd's "Comfortably Numb".
It was the B-side which came to the attention of British DJs and the label Polydor, who signed them. After the single "Laura" charted at No.54, "Comfortably Numb was re-released under the new label and reached No.10 in the UK charts, swiftly followed by "Take Your Mama", "Laura" - another re-release, "Mary" and "Filthy/Gorgeous".
As a result of the success of the singles, much was expected of the debut album from which they were all spawned. Scissor Sisters (2004) debuted at No.1 on the UK album charts. At the 2005 BRIT awards the band won three awards.
Ta-Dah was released in 2006, going straight into the top spot on the UK charts again where it joined the track "I Don't Feel Like Dancin'" which was at the top of the singles chart at the same time.
In 2007 the band announced their intentions to take a couple of years off to work on their follow-up to Ta-Dah.
