Biography

Edit

Scott Weiland (born Scott Richard Kline on October 27, 1967) is an American musician, lyricist, and vocalist, most notable for his work with Grammy Award-winning rock band Stone Temple Pilots. Weiland is also known for his five-year career with Grammy Award-winning supergroup Velvet Revolver and his own solo career. His onstage persona is known as being flamboyant and chaotic; he is also known to constantly change his appearance and vocal style. Despite his success, his career has been plagued with drug addiction, as well as several arrests. However, according to MTV News, Weiland has been free from heroin since 2002. In 2007, Weiland was placed at #57 on Hit Paraders list of "Heavy Metal's All-Time Top 100 Vocalists."

Roll Up, Roll Up, Rock’n’Roll Wardrobe For Sale

Dec, 10 2009

It’s not nearly as glitzy as the Michael Jackson auction, but Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver frontman Scott Weiland has decided to sell off a few of his own personal possessions. The 57 lots include a STP-signed guitar, several signed pairs of jeans, a handful of T-shirts, some boots and a few jackets, and though the auction still has several days to run, bids are looking promising. The proceeds of the sale are intended to benefit the ArchAngel Foundation, which is a charity set up by Weiland after his brother Michael died in 2007 after a long struggle with drug addiction. Money raised in the auction will benefit Michael’s widow and two children. Scott has had his own infamous battles with substance abuse and has seen his music career marred by the effects of his struggles to stay clean, so this altruistic venture has a special poignancy for him. In addition to his philanthropic efforts Scott is also working hard at his music, and news that a new STP album and tour are expected in Spring 2010 will probably please most fans more than the prospect of owning a pair of his old boxers.
