Sean Paul has taken dancehall to an international audience through his multi-award winning album, Dutty Rock.
The young Sean Paul turned his back on a promising swimming career, having represented Jamaica in water polo, to pursue his first love - music. He started as a DJ while he worked on writing his own material. His debut single "Baby Girl (Don't Cry)" was a hit in Jamaica, and was followed up by a string of single successes.
In 2000 he released his debut album Stage One, but it was not a commercial hit. Success would come from his follow-up album Dutty Rock. The singles "Gimme the Light", "Get Busy" and "Like Glue" took dancehall to international audiences who made the album a Top 10 success worldwide. The album also received critical endorsement from the Grammy committee who awarded it Best Reggae Album.
After extensive touring to promote Dutty Rock, Sean Paul released The Trinity in 2005. It included the singles "We Be Burnin'" and "Temperature" which also enjoyed both commercial and critical acclaim.
In 2006 he took his music to a new audience by supporting Maria Carey on her Adventures of Mimi Tour. Sean Paul is working on an album A New Age to be released in 2008.
