Shawn Lane was a multi-instrumentalist virtuoso from Memphis, TN. His piano and guitar playing were characterized by long, fast improvised runs and innovative techniques such as hybrid picking (pick + fingers) and very wide intervallic leaps. Shawn played with Southern rock band Black Oak Arkansas as a teenager, recorded 4 solo albums, and collaborated extensively with Swedish bass virtuoso Jonas Hellborg. Shawn suffered from health problems that culminated in his untimely death in 2003 at age 40.
