Sia (Kate Isobelle Furler) is an Australian pop singer born in 1975.
Initially she was a member of Crisp, an acid jazz group which released two albums Word And The Deal and Delirium. Her debut solo album OnlySee was released in 1997 and in 2000 she released Healing Is Difficult.
Her success was measured in steps as the singles achieved airplay one by one: "Drink To Get Drunk" became an underground club hit, "Taken For Granted" reached No.10 in the UK charts and "Little Man" was remixed by Wookie to become a huge club hit. The album received many critical plaudits.
By 2004's Colour The Small One she had turned down the tempo somewhat and this was a more relaxed album. In it she collaborated with Beck on the track "The Bully". Unfortunately, the album failed to perform particularly well and Sia parted company with her record label, frustrated by their lack of activity. However "Breathe Me" was beginning to reach the listeners (it was used in the television series Six Feet Under) and on the strength of this increasing profile the album was released in the US under a different label (2006).
Her recent release Lady Croissant (2007) is primarily a live album though it contains one new track.
A notable and successful collaboration during her solo career has been with Zero 7, for whom she sang on three of their albums in 2001, 2004 and 2006.
