Biography

Edit

Sizzla is the Jamaican-born reggae musician known for his position at the forefront of the conscious dancehall movement, who believe in the hard line elements of Rastafarianism. Sizzla worked his way up from performing with local sound systems and made his debut single in 1995. But it was his second album release, 1997’s Praise Ye Jah that garnered him critical praise and commercial reward. The album made the Top 20 of the Top Reggae albums chart and is considered to be a landmark of the conscious dancehall cannon. Subsequent albums have been in the Top 20 of the Reggae charts, and his success has grown beyond his Jamaican homeland.
