Biography

Edit

Southern Culture on the Skids is an American band who produces feel-good surf-rock music with a healthy dollop of humour and an obsession with fried chicken and banana pudding.

The band were formed in the mid 1980s by guitarist/singer Rick Miller and by 1985 they had an eponymous debut under their belts. The band split briefly but re-grouped and finally released Too Much Pork for Just One Fork in 1991 which yielded the fan-pleasing track, "Eight Piece Box". In 1995 they were finally signed to the major label Geffen's subsidiary DGC and released Dirt Track Date which reprised some of their earlier material and sold fairly well.

More recently their recording output has been restricted to a live album, Doublewide and Live (2006) and a covers collection Countrypolitan Favorites (2007).
