Biography

Edit

San Diego rockers Switchfoot don't deny their Christian faith, but they do eschew the Christian-rock label, preferring to make the music the focus; a position which has satisfied fans on both sides of the spiritual debate.

On the basis of a few shows Switchfoot were signed by Re:think Records in 1997 and three records were released, The Legend of Chin, New Way to Be Human and Learning to Breathe. In 2002 the band played a major role in the music for the film A Walk to Remember. The success of their work on the film led to them signing with a major label and releasing the double platinum The Beautiful Letdown in 2003. The singles "Meant to Live" and "Dare You to Move" from this album were hits.

Nothing is Sound was released in 2005, debuting at No.3 on the Billboard charts. This album was rockier than their previous releases and featured charting single "Stars". By the time Oh! Gravity was released in 2006 it was hotly anticipated and it reached No.1 on the iTunes Top Albums chart.

This Is Home is a single for Prince Caspian the movie and it played during the credits. They released it in 2008 as a single.

Trivia

Edit
  • Switchfoot typically charges venues between $35,000 to $40,000 USD per gig. This is very cheap when compared to other bands of the same popularity (who charge 4 or 5 times that amount), and allows the venues to sell tickets at lower prices.
