The Beautiful Letdown is the fourth studio album by alternative rock band Switchfoot. Released in early 2003, it launched the band into the mainstream on the strength of two top 20 singles: "Meant to Live" and "Dare You to Move". The album was hugely popular and remained a staple on the Billboard 200 album charts for a considerable amount of time. The album sold over 2.6 million copies in the US and was eventually certified double platinum by the RIAA.

The album won an Album of the Year award at the 2003 San Diego Music Awards. It was ranked #195 on Billboard's Hot 200 Albums of the Decade.

5 stars Powerful music....
Im not a big fan of Christian music, but i really like this band for some reason. Their music isnt cheesy like some, the lyrics really speak to you.

1. Meant To Live- first single, great guitars riffs, and the lyrics really hit home

2. This If Your Life- This is my favorite song on here. Its got this electronic beat thing going on in it, The lyrics and the beat of the song just fit so well together. "This is your life, are you who you wanna be?"

3 stars Letdown? Well, not really...
I bought this CD after reading about the band in Rolling Stone (of all places). The first time I heard the CD, I thought "Well, not bad...but nothing special either." However, after repeated listenings, the music started growing on me. What was it? Was it the music? Well, if you like Jars Of Clay or secular counterparts like Matchbox 20 or Vertical Horizon, then yes. Was it the lyrics? Definitely.
