My Winter Storm is the second solo album by Finnish rock/classical singer Tarja Turunen, and the first to consist mainly of new, original songs specifically written by/for Tarja. The album was released by Universal Music on November 19, 2007 in Finland, on January 2, 2008 in South America and in February 26 in North America; in the United Kingdom was released an special version limited in 300 copies. The album is also available as a limited edition 2-disc digipack with a bonus DVD. Both the singles and the album are produced by Daniel Presley. The album was recorded with various famous artists, including the cellist Martin Tillman, the guitarist Kiko Loureiro and the composer James Dooley, it contains several music styles including alternative rock, symphonic metal, pop and folk; different studios were used in 8 countries, they were Finland, Brazil, Republic of Ireland, USA, Spain, Switzerland, Germany and the Czech Republic. According with Tarja, some of the lyrics were based on the book The Alchemist, by the brazilian writer Paulo Coelho, some of these songs were "Oasis" and "The Reign", and the song "My Little Phoenix" was based on the 2002 film The Ring, by Gore Verbinski.

The radio version of the first single - "I Walk Alone" - has been playing on Finnish radio and the music video presenting Tarja's new characters created for this album has been playing on MTV. Tarja has played a mini-tour of 10 concerts in various European countries.

My Winter Storm album is platinum in Finland and 2 gold discs in Russia, also won the Golden Disc in Hungary and their first gold disc in her entire career in the Czech Republic, the album has sold 650.

Everyone who is familiar with the heavy metal band Nightwish, last year the band had an acrimonious split with their former lead singer Tarja Turunen. It came to a shock for every fan of the band as well as Tarja. After a year since her dismissal fromt he band, Tarja returns to the music scene with a new album. MY WINTER STORM is Tarja's second solo album. The album is a concept album, split into three parts: ITE MISSA EST, THE ESCAPE OF THE DOLL, and SUNSET, complete with eighteen tracks.

3 stars Good, but not good enough
Tarja Tuuren has a nice voice. No, not a nice voice, an AMAZING voice. She is an amazing vocalist and Nightwish's fame is due in no small part to the work she did with them from '97 to '05.

So now she's on her own and making her own music. My Winter Storm, in my opinion, does an amazing job of showing its listening just how strong Tarja's voice is. Every track on this album gives its listener very high quality vocals.
