Testament

Testament’s failure to capture the mainstream vote meant that they missed out on being considered one of the “Big Four of Thrash” with Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax, but they are considered to be influential nonetheless.

Their debut album, The Legacy (1987), is considered to be one of the classics of the thrash metal genre, but the fan’s favourite was Practice What You Preach (1989). Nothing they released after that made the same mark and the lack of recognition had a deleterious effect on the cohesion of the band, and members came and went thereafter. Instead, they chose to concentrate on their exploration of the genre, including death metal and groove metal. Loyalty among their existing fans has been steadfast.
