Overview Edit

Santi is the second album by American rock band The Academy Is..., released on April 2 and 3, 2007 by Fueled by Ramen.

The album's working title was Chop Chop. The first preview of the album was provided by Johnny Minardi of Snakes and Suits fame on January 26, 2007 when he gave the song, "LAX to O'Hare", to Absolutepunk.net for streaming on their site.

The first single from the album was "We've Got a Big Mess on Our Hands". The song was premiered on Q101 in Chicago at around 7:00 PM on February 5, 2007. The song is now streaming from the band's PureVolume page and is available on iTunes in the U.S. and Australia.

The second single from the album is "Neighbors", the video of which is available for viewing on YouTube.

The cover design was released via the Fueled by Ramen text messaging service on February 5.

On Tuesday, March 27, 2007 MTV2.com began streaming the album resulting in the album becoming available to download on various piracy sites.

In its first week of sales in the U.S., the album sold 33,000 copies, debuting at number 32 on the Billboard 200 and #94 on the UK Albums Chart.

5 stars i was so excited for this album to come out....
okay first of all i have to say, the academy is... is one of my favorite bands. i was so excited for this album to come out. i even pre-ordered it and everything.

honestly, i have to say it isn't an album you'll fall in love with the first time playing it through. but after playing the album over a couple of times, it just hit me, WOW! TAI hasn't dissappointed us.

the band's sound has definitely changed from their debut album, which i have to say i prefer, almost here. will's voice is like alw…

3 stars Another good album, but still sounds like all of the others.
I enjoy The Academy Is... in the sense that I enjoy whiney rock every now and then. The have some catchy lyrics and chords, but at the end of the day, I have a lot of trouble telling one song from the other. So, while I do enjoy TAI's music, it does have the pattern of sound repetitious, leaving me only wanting to play it every now and again. But, if you have a drive during the summer, roll down the windows and crank this. It will make for an enjoyable time.
