Overview Edit

Meet The Beatles! is the second Beatles' album released in the United States, despite the "first album" claim on its cover. Released on 20 January 1964, it was the first Capitol Records Beatles album, issued in both mono and stereo. Capitol is a sister company to Parlophone, the Beatles' British label, and both are subsidiaries of EMI.

Just ten days earlier Chicago's Vee-Jay Records released The Beatles' first album, Introducing... The Beatles, which had been delayed for release from the previous summer; perhaps as a result of the Vee-Jay release, Liberty Music Shops advertised in the New York Times of 12 January 1964, that Meet The Beatles was available for purchase on that date, an ad not authorized by Capitol.

The cover had Robert Freeman's portrait that was used for the UK With The Beatles release only tinted blue this time on this release instead of the stark black and white.

In 2003, the album was ranked number 59 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time. In 2004, Meet The Beatles! was released for the first time on CD in stereo and mono as part of The Capitol Albums, Volume 1 box set with the catalogue number CDP 7243 8 66875 2 4.

5 stars Differences And Similarities With "Meet The Beatles" And "With The Beatles"
No you guys! The reason there are two different covers and two different song lists are because "With The Beatles" was their second UK release. Capitol released a similar album entitled, "Meet The Beatles". The UK version had 14 songs. The US version had had 12. "With The Beatles" was the Beatles second LP in the UK. "Please, Please Me" was their first. "Meet The Beatles" was the first Capitol release in the US. The only relationship in similarity between the UK's "With The Beatles" and the USA'…

3 stars Original cover, as expected, but contents weren't
The cover was worn, as described in the description, but there were ink markings on the back that I didn't expect. The vinyl record was NOT "Meet The Beatles", but was "Rubber Soul". I was very disappointed but, as it was a gift that I had framed, I kept it anyway. HOWEVER, I do want to mention that the seller was sincerely apologetic, and refunded all of my cost. I would order from them again.
