Taking their name from the well-regarded debut album from The Band, Music From the Big Pink, The Big Pink have some way to go before they can emulate the success of that release. However, initial signs are good; in 2009 they won the Philip Hall Radar Award presented by British music magazine NME and their electro-rock debut album, A Brief History of Love attracted generally positive reviews. As a result of their growing profile they landed a prestigious offer to support Muse during the British leg of their 2009 arena tour.
