I bought THIS ISN'T IT, because of my teenage-like obsession with the Wonderboys of Rock, The Strokes. I was fully expecting a novelty disc I could play at parties to get a chuckle, which it is (perfectly illustrated by the picture of Arnold Drummond aka Gary Coleman, on the disc itself). But it's also a bit more than that. The lounge cum muzak versions of the four Strokes songs on this EP are chuckle inducing, but they are also perfect testaments to the sublime melodies of Casablancas & Co. I find myself enjoying this as background music while working or relaxing, not just as a joke. As far as whether or not members of Pulp, or The Strokes, were invlolved I don't buy into that. This very easily could have been created by one strange fellow in a basement studio. But who knows? I guess that's part of the fun. Don't be surprised if you start hearing these delightful renditions of melodious tunes in your doctor's offices or high-rise elevators. And don't be surprised if your toes start tapping.
