The Jam's Brilliant 2nd Album....'The Jam' were the definitive heirs to the Mod sound of 'The Who', and the proof can be heard on 1977's "This Is The Modern World". This album was just as good, if not better than the first one! We got the rocking "London Traffic", "Standards", the reflective "Life From A Window", "The Combine", "Don't Tell Them You're Sane", the angry "In the Street Today", the happy "London Girl", the excellent pop sensibilities of "I Need You" (For Someone), the 'let's get ripped' of "Here Comes the Weekend",…
Good; weak by Jam standardsThis second album is a letdown after their explosive first album (In the City) and their quieter third and fourth (All Mod Cons and Setting Sons). It has good songs but seems like leftovers from the first album.
