The Kills

Jun, 30 2009

Usually album delays are caused by fairly hum-drum reasons: the label needs to focus on promoting a different album at the time, the artwork isn't quite finished, or the band can't agree on a title. The Kills' fourth album will arrive later than expected because what existed of it so far has drowned in a swimming pool. According to British tabloid The Daily Mirror, guitarist Jamie Hince's supermodel girlfriend Kate Moss threw his shoulder bag into a pool during an argument, unaware that his laptop was inside. He dived in to get it, but despite desperate attempts at resuscitation, it never woke up. Six brand new Kills songs were on it, and weren't backed up. The Kills' last album Midnight Boom hit No.1 on Billboard's Top Heatseekers chart in March last year, but the duo have a bigger profile in the UK. Singer Alison Mosshart is currently focused on fronting Jack White's new band, The Dead Weather.
