The Locust was The Locust's fourth release and first full length album. It was released on 12" LP in September 1998 (see 1998 in music) on the Gold Standard Labs record label and contains an eclectic mesh of punk, hardcore, and grindcore which mixes together to create a 16 minute long album.

i dont think theres much more to describe the locust other than imagine a star trek army battling it out with phasers at a napalm death concert at the same time a plague of...insects of some sort swarm around...add a healthy dose of confusion to that and youve got the locust.

I laughed almost hysterically the first time I heard Locust and still play the CD for the amusement of unsuspecting friends. Clearly, the band intended to express their great San Diego angst with the pure emotion of punk. The result is just polka where the accordian is replaced by an amateur, wailing scream. If only the music were as interesting as the titles ---
