Overview Edit

Conspiracy of One is the sixth studio album by the American punk rock band The Offspring. It was released on November 14, 2000 debuting at 9 on the US Billboard 200 with around 125,000 copies sold in its first week and has sold more than 1 million copies worldwide. It is the follow-up to the commercially successful Americana.

The Offspring had come out in support of file sharing, claiming it does not hurt sales. This album was originally planned to be released directly on their website before retail, until their label threatened to sue.

Conspiracy of One is also the band's final studio album with the "classic" line-up, with drummer Ron Welty leaving the band in early 2003 to pursue his career with Steady Ground.

5 stars Welcome back Offspring!
Wow. That's all I can say. This album is a piece of work that REALLY deserves to be an Offspring album. There is only one departure on this album, which is the spanish-sounding "Original Prankster", which is a very fun and super catchy song. Other than that, the album is straight-forward punk rock that made the Offspring famous. If I could relate this album to any other by the Offspring, I'd say it sounds like Ixnay On The Hombre. The musical style is alot alike, and the lyrics are very strong. …

1 stars The Downword Spiral Continues
What a dissapointment. I'm a big Offspring fan but I'm not into this new sound at all. I could tolerate Americana, but this is no good. The band got way too poppy. The only good songs on it are Want You Bad and Million Miles Away because they have a little bit of their old-school feel. If you like stuff like Sum 41, Blink 182 and Wheetus then you'll probably like this. But if you're into real punk music like the band's early days, don't buy this.
