Now defunct band originally from San Diego, The Origin was created by Topper Rimel, Rony Abada and Michael Andrews. Gary Jules played with the band at one point before they released their Virgin Records Debut. After releasing two full length albums, neither album achieved much financial success but garnered a strong college following. The band broke up soon after wards.
Michael Andrews went on to join The Greyboy Allstars and then a solo effort, most notably doing a cover of Tears For Fears' "Mad World" with Gary Jules for the "Donnie Darko" soundtrack
Topper Rimel played bass in the first incarnation of Brendan Benson's well fed boys.
