Siamese Dream is the second studio album by the American alternative rock band The Smashing Pumpkins, released on July 27, 1993 on Virgin Records. The album fused diverse influences such as shoegazing, dream pop, classic heavy metal, and progressive rock. Since its release, it has frequently been cited as one of the most influential albums of the 1990s.

Despite recording sessions fraught with difficulties and tensions, Siamese Dream debuted at number ten on the Billboard charts, sold over four million copies in the U.S. and over six million worldwide cementing The Smashing Pumpkins as a major force in the alternative rock movement. Siamese Dream produced four hit singles: "Cherub Rock", "Today", "Disarm", and "Rocket".

5 stars Billy Corgan and His Way
I have not been on the Smashing Pumpkins bandwagon for long. I missed the albums when they first hit; hell, the first song I heard by them was "Tonight, Tonight" from Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness. Needless to say, I had some catching up to do. Thankfully, that catching up included listening to this album, which I now consider a seminal/pivotal/simply amazing point in rock history. Typically in rock music, America invents a sound/genre and then Britain refines it. For instance, Radiohead has taken REM's sound to higher ground. In the case of the Pumpkins, the reverse is happening. My Bloody Valentine and Jesus and Marychain are the obvious influences here, but Corgan has stripped away some layers and has substituted Kevin Shields's shoe-gazing introversion for a more aggressive and adrenilizing demeanor.
